Durga is the deity that symbolizes the love of a mother. She is the healer, the caretaker, the protector and the granter of all wishes. Twice a year her elaborate pooja is performed for nine days and nine nights in continuity. At this time of year people shun their bad habits or at least vow to shun them. Hence, Durga cleanses one’s soul. Her idols are a representation of pure divinity. This ensemble of brass statues depicts Durga in her various incarnations and postures, each one of which oozes out affection of a mother.
